Bangor couple’s sprawling flower garden in full bloom and ready for visitors
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - For about a decade, a couple in Bangor has been inviting the public to their home to see their gardens.
Roger and Sally Lycettes’ love for peonies and other flowers is in full bloom right now.
They say they have more than 250 peonies on their property on Ohio Street.
Every year, they invite anyone to come see their sprawling gardens around their home.
It’s the first stop on the Peony Society of Maine annual tour.
Last year, the tour was done virtually.
The Lycettes say they’re ready to see the undeniable joy every visitor experiences when they see the flowers up close.
“Just explain how beautiful it is and take a lot of pride and, of course, we spend a lot of time and resources and finances to make it what it is,” said Roger Lycette, member of the Peony Society of Maine. “But, God makes it beautiful, and he just lets me take care of it.”
The tours are this weekend and next from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There is a suggested donation of $3 which goes back to the Peony Society of Maine.
