BINGHAM, Maine (WABI) - A Concord man is facing a number of charges after police say he led them on a chase in Somerset County.

Michael Thomas, 26, was arrested in Bingham Thursday afternoon.

The owner of the truck followed Thomas on the Bert Berry Road where he later drove it into a ditch.

Police say Thomas was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and got into another car parked in a driveway nearby.

When deputies located Thomas, they say he led them on a chase and threw a handgun out the window while crossing the bridge over the Kennebec River into Bingham.

Police say they were able to recover the loaded firearm thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit

Thomas was taken to the Somerset County Jail.

He’s charged with theft and eluding an officer, among other charges.
